Saw “Where the Wild Things Are” yesterday… I loved it… i think… not a lot like the book but i think it was inspired by the book in a good way… I remember loving the book as a child… i remember it in the library at the school and reading it and re-reading it… I was a reserved… nervous child (though given to bouts of wild tantrumming)… i think i longed to be like Max… I also loved the drawings… i think i have always been pulled in to the sensuality and the expressiveness of line drawings and cross-hatching…. those little lines draw (:P) me in… they are like tiny little (teeny tiny… teeny weeny… itsy beetsy… hey I’m Roseanne Roseannadanna) artworks all on their own… then you move back and there is the actual drawing… and it’s so wonderful when it’s playful and imaginative… i loved those monsters… Maurice Sendak was a genius…
