I wrote this song last Thursday. I was working on putting together a video piece... and working on a concept in terms of the visuals. During a test of my recording process I played something and added some “vocalizations” the song was based on some of this “information”... I like to think that at moments like that you are accessing a part of yourself that is less censored and a bit more“open”... Here’s the piece I put together.Add a comment

Hi... So here’s a new song, I wrote over the last week or so.
I changed up my writing process a little bit... Started with a ukele strummy kind of thing and built the music from there. The lyrics came last... gleaned from various journal entries which I riffed on while playing the music back... the flow, melody and lyrics sort of made themselves known in the process... the vocal “delivery” kind of worked itself that way too.

This is a bit of an experimental piece combining found video and sound along with my own visuals and sounds (the music). A little strange I know - the idea... combining with transparency so that meaning derived by the viewer is based on what the viewer (you) adds to the piece in terms of “translating” the sometimes muddy content.
WARNING: some viewers may find images in this video disturbing... watch at your own risk.

Here’s an off-the-floor cover of an English Beat song I always loved... I remember when the album “Special Beat Service” came out and I thought “this sounds different... I’m not sure I like this...” - but then every tune grew on me and I couldn’t help but love it... Every now and then I still have to put that album on... and yes I mean LP when I say that... I still own the vinyl (ok I also have it on cd). By the way the backing track is a loop I created just slightly before this recording - it is made up of guitar/percussion sounds... when I say “off-the-floor” I'm referring to the fact that this is recorded live... um... yeah... anyway... please enjoy... Save it for Later....Add a comment
